Latest Updates from Our Project:

Thanks to you, we MADE it!
over 1 year ago – Sat, May 27, 2023 at 02:13:20 PM

Hello all,

Thanks to each and every one of our backers, the Painted Lady Tarot will be a reality!  WE DID IT!

We MADE it!

We are so grateful to each of you who have pledged and we look forward to bringing you an AMAZING deck, companion book, and associated art work! The project is one with love and careful construction, and we know you will be thrilled with what's next!

We have full confidence in our ability to reach our stretch goals, and we invite anyone who hasn't pledged yet to do so.  We have some great plans in store when we reach our next funding levels!

At $7,500 we will be adding a special bonus card to the deck, and at $10,000 we will be upgrading our box to a magnetic close.  We will share both with you as we get closer to those next funding levels.

Thanks again to each of you!  We can't wait to see what's next!

Let's Get In Touch with our Intuition
over 1 year ago – Sat, May 20, 2023 at 08:28:09 PM

Hello friends, and happy Saturday night!

So sorry for the lack of updates over the last few days.  Both Ann and Daniel had some unexpected family medical issues which required our attention, but we are back in gear and so excited to share where we are so far with the project with you!

At this point after only 5 and 1/2 days in the campaign, we have raised over 75% of the funds needed to bring the project to production.  This is amazing progress, and we are thrilled that we have come so far toward our goal.  With your help, we can quickly move to a fully funded level and begin to add our stretch goals.  Feel free to share news about the deck with your friends and social media connections -- we'll do the same!

A Word About Intuition

Today we did want to talk a little bit about intuition and the Painted Lady Tarot.

Many Tarot decks in production these days are tributes to (or clones of) the Rider-Waite-Smith deck.  Their images feature interpretations of Pamela Coleman Smith's original art, or reflect a new slant on those images (for instance seeing them as cartoon images, or made up of cats, or some other way of presenting these images).  We LOVE these decks (in fact Daniel has collected many of them), but for the Painted Lady Tarot we wanted to do something different.

We want to get in touch with your deep intuition and appeal to your inner self with these cards.  While the underlying card meaning is definitely in tune with the work of A.E. Waite in the classic divinatory system, the images themselves are a definite reinterpretation and revisioning of the underlying meaning.  You will find (and we will call out in the accompanying book) tributes and connections between the images in Painted Lady Tarot and the Rider-Waite-Smith images, but these cards are designed to speak to your artistic self, and as such they will reveal more and more each time you work with them or study them.

Take, as an example, the three of wands (or in the Painted Lady Tarot, the three of brushes):

Three of Brushes and Three of Wands

The stated meaning of the card as described in The Pictorial Key to the Tarot by A.E. Waite is the following:

A calm, stately personage, with his back turned, looking from a cliff's edge at ships passing over the sea. Three staves are planted in the ground, and he leans slightly on one of them. Divinatory Meanings: He symbolizes established strength, enterprise, effort, trade, commerce, discovery; those are his ships, bearing his merchandise, which are sailing over the sea. The card also signifies able co-operation in business, as if the successful merchant prince were looking from his side towards yours with a view to help you. Reversed: The end of troubles, suspension or cessation of adversity, toil and disappointment.

You can see in the Painted Lady Tarot image we have abandoned the image of a person and instead are focusing on the ship itself.  Maybe this is all you see at first glance.  But look a little deeper.  What are the images on the sails?  The starburst and the clover as pictured on the sails represent new birth and new energy coming as metaphorical "wind in your sails".  The light blue colored water seems to be splashing outward with energy bursting forth from the ship as though the ship itself it "making waves" or has just been placed into the water.  And the color patterns in the sky (dark blue and burnt orange) bring to mind a union of fire and water (with wands being a fire suit and the focus of this card being the ship on the water).

What else do you see in this image?  What other hidden messages or meanings might your intuition be sending to you as you look at the image?

Every single card in the Painted Lady Tarot presents a new opportunity to deepen your understanding of the Tarot if you are already familiar with the fundamentals of this system, or can be easily learned and understood if you are new to the Tarot.

We are SO excited to be bringing you this tool to unlocking your inner intuition!

First a note of gratitude to each one of you for your support.  We are beyond 50% of our funding goal, and we are thrilled that in the first 24 hours that the project is off to such a great start!!!  We have many. many surprises and rewards planned for when we surpass our funding goal, so if you or a friend are sitting on the fence, make sure to pledge now!

We did want to share the exciting news that we have been selected to be featured in the Alleyway Tarot, a 100 card magpie deck being printed by Seven Dane Asmund (aka the Publishing Goblin).  Our card, the three of crayons, was selected to be printed and featured in the deck, and we are so excited to be a part of this project!

Hello friends,

Thanks to your support, we have had an incredible 8 hours since our launch today.  In just the first 8 hours, we have already raised more than 40% of our goal, and we are running low on supplies for early backers!

We're looking forward to sharing some great surprises over the course of the campaign including featuring some of our best add-ons (and perhaps adding some new ones to consider).  We promise to keep you informed as we go on, and to answer any questions and provide updates as we move forward.

Stay tuned because tomorrow we have a really exciting announcement to share about where else you might discover one of our cards (hint hint).

In the meantime, thank you again for your support.  We are on a journey together and we look forward to sharing this journey with you!

Three of wands / three of brushes - a card that means the journey has begun, and success is just around the corner!
